According to a source in the government, Odisha recorded the highest-ever gross GST collection in April 2023 of Rs. 5,035.74 billion.
With a collection of Rs 2,359.17 crore in April 2023 compared to Rs 1,680.00 crore in April 2022, the collection to be kept by the State, which includes OGST and IGST settlement, saw rise of 40.43 percent.
According to the source, this development is mostly due to the services sector's strength as well as the trade industry's expansion.
Petroleum items and alcoholic beverages for human use make up the bulk of the total tax revenue collected from non-GST commodities in April 2023, totaling Rs. 264.42 crore as opposed to Rs. 232.92 crore in April 2022, a 13.52 percent increase.
The total amount collected under all laws regulated by the Commissionerate of CT & GST, Odisha, including GST, VAT, entry tax, and profession tax, was Rs 2,661.92 crore in April 2023 as opposed to Rs 1947.21 crore in April 2022, representing a 36.70 percent increase.
The number of waybills created in April 2023 was Rs 20.23 lakh as opposed to Rs 17.57 lakh in April 2022, a 15.12 percent increase that the source claimed reflected the health of the economy.
