Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, has made the decision to leave his position. According to Musk's formal announcements about SpaceX and Tesla, Twitter has a new CEO.
Elon Musk revealed on Twitter that he has recruited a new CEO for Twitter, and that person will begin in six months. Musk would remain executive chair and CTO when Twitter hires a new CEO. Elon Musk would be in charge of the product, software, and sysops in his new position.
A new CEO for X/Twitter has been recruited, I'm happy to say. She will begin in around 6 weeks! As CEO and CTO, I will now be responsible for managing the company's software, hardware, and systems operations, according to Elon Musk.
According to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Elon Musk may have hired Linda Yaccarino, a Comcast NBCUniversal executive, to be the future CEO of Twitter since she was already in negotiations for the position. An official confirmation is still pending, however.
In 2022, Elon Musk finalized his $44 billion purchase of Twitter, and he assumed control as Twitter's CEO. When he took over, Parag Agarwal was disqualified and requested to step down as CEO of Twitter.
The WSJ story also states that Yaccarino, the senior sales officer for advertising at NBCUniversal, spoke with Elon Musk at a Miami advertising convention. According to foreign media sources, it would be a major setback for NBCUniversal if Yaccarino left the firm and joined Twitter since CEP Jeff Shell also announced his departure last month.
