<p>In order to tie the two-match series 1-1, Team India defeated South Africa by 7 wickets on Thursday at Newlands, Cape Town, recording their first-ever Test victory. After a terrible 11-ball collapse on the first day, the visitors recovered to dismiss South Africa for 178. Jasprit Bumrah took six wickets in the second innings, while Mukesh Kumar returned 2 for 56 in 10 overs.</p>

<p>South Africa’s advantage was increased by Aiden Markram’s counterattacking 99-ball century, but he didn’t get enough assistance from the opposition. Because of this, the Proteas batting lineup collapsed completely on Thursday before noon, giving India a meager 79 runs to win the match.</p>
<p>Yashasvi Jaiswal, playing second fiddle to captain Rohit Sharma, responded with a blazing start. The former tried to quickly turn the tide in India’s favor, but in the process, he gave way to Nadre Burger, who took 28 off 23 balls and six boundaries.</p>
<p>Shubman Gill then joined Rohit, and the two of them tried to lead India to a desperately needed victory. However, a little incident in Cape Town caused the visitors to have to wait a little while longer to experience triumph.</p>
<p>Kagiso Rabada knocked over with a short ball that, oddly, didn’t bounce when 22 was needed to win. The ball deflected into the stumps as Gill attempted to defend, but he was only able to get a glimpse of the bat’s bottom edge.</p>
<p>With Kyle Verreynne, the wicketkeeper, catching Virat Kohli at number four, Virat Kohli seemed to be in control of the outcome for India, but Marco Jansen had the former captain caught for twelve. With a flurry of short balls, the tall South African bowler attempted to trouble Shreyas Iyer, but the Mumbaikar responded with a lofted straight shot to end the game in style.</p>
<p>With eight wickets remaining, India won the match because to four not-outs from Iyer and a standstill of 17 runs from captain Rohit Sharma.</p>
<p>South Africa had started the second day at 62 for 3, but they soon lost their middle order and were at 111 for 7, when Markram and Rabada had a 51-run partnership in which he hit every Indian bowler.</p>

<p>Markram struck 17 fours and two massive sixes off Prasidh, easily forcing the balls through the gaps as skipper Rohit Sharma set an aggressive field correctly. However, Mohammed Siraj was the one who got Markram to misjudge a heave, keeping the advantage below 100 runs.</p>
<p>At the stroke of lunch, the Proteas opener recklessly went for broke, smashing 106 off only 103 balls. This left India with a victory target of 79 on a hot surface. He alone was responsible for leading Proteas to 176 all out in 36.5 overs.</p>
<p>On a specially constructed platform, a vintage Bumrah was in full flower. Even though the ball didn’t fly off the surface as much as it had on the first day, Bumrah (6/61 in 13.5 overs) changed his back-of-a-length delivery style from the first essay to a more conventional fuller length delivery to raise red flags for the Proteas.</p>
